If you are looking for a 9-5 job, you might consider your energy level in that particular timing. The human brain cannot concentrate on something more than two to three hours at a time. Then they should take a 30 minutes break to relax their mind. This break will help a person to refresh their mind.
If someone works the whole 8 hours without a break, it may affect the quality of their work. When a person’s concentration is higher, the work will be easier and faster. Human brain concentration depends on many factors such as interest in work, dedication to work, physical and emotional stage of a person. But how many companies offer this break time to their employees like this. This is the main reason for most people to stay away from 9-5 work time.
2. The workload is not equally distributed:
Most companies don’t equally distribute their workload among employees. Some people may have the skill and they can do whatever work they get. But some others are not as skilled as others and they may take more time to complete the tasks they get.
Another fact about the 9-5 job is that when the work time is down there may not be much to do. But employees have to stay back in the office even after finishing their work faster. There is no option for an employee to leave the office after finishing their work. Every company expects its employee to stay back in their office during their core hours which makes them feel very bad. There is no meaning in staying at the workplace if there is nothing else to do for the day.
3. New technology doesn’t demand physical presence:
Businesses are always evolving, and they are trying to use new technology to make everything faster. These technologies and tools do not demand the employee’s physical presence always in the office. One can do their job from anywhere without going to the office. This choice makes most employees think of not going to the office. They can do their work from their home itself.
Videoconferencing, cloud-based project management, etc are some popular options you can try to connect with work. These make a person eligible to work from their home itself without the need of going to the office.
4. Freelancers:
You will get a freelancer to work nowadays within affordable price. Anyone with a skill to work can be a freelancer. There are many websites where one can apply to a freelancing job opportunity. The main interesting fact about freelancing is that you can work as per you want. There is no core hour requirement for a freelancer. You can choose your work time and demand the charge also. There is not any conditions or strings attached like working in an office when you opt freelancing jobs.
More than 40% of Americans are now choosing a freelancing career than a full-time job that demands physical presence. A company will also have many benefits by working as a freelancer because they will get more productive employees without the need of paying any benefits to them other than their salary.
5. No flexibility:
If you are someone who is working 9 to 5 every day, you won’t get time to do all other things. What if you need to see a doctor? The doctor’s office only works on weekdays and everyone struggles to make time to do that. There are many issues in getting a day off when someone is sick. They have to give a lot of explanation for that. Most American companies don’t give enough sick leaves for their employees in the fear of losing productivity.

7. Compensation:
Compensation of 9 to 5 job is also very less sometimes comparing to freelancing jobs. Some companies pay their employees very less even after they are working for 8 hours. This is a very negative aspect of such companies.
When people get to know about the benefit of working independently, they will start to quit such a hard 8-hour job and move on to freelancing opportunities. There will not be any demands from the authority. You can start to work on your own schedule without affecting your daily life.
No need to feel any work pressure or feel stressed anymore when you have other options to be happy in life. Get the payment based on your work and enjoy your freedom.
8. Commuting problem:
Commuting problem is very bad for some people. The traffic is very high nowadays and people may have to spend 2-3 hours on the road while traveling to the office. You can avoid such a situation by working from home.
No need to be present physically in office when there are many new technologies that can be used to connect with people and do the work better. When there is an option to work remotely, no need to compel employees to work in the office for a fixed schedule.
Avoid this wastage of time by allowing them to work remotely. Happy employees will be an asset to a company, and it will also increase their productivity.
Why 9 to 5 job is not suitable for you?
9 to 5 jobs are not suitable for everyone. Some people want to lead their life in the discipline. They can go for a 9 to 5 job as they can make their life successful because of their daily routine life. Here are the reasons for someone who doesn’t go for a 9-5 job.
1. You hate getting up early:
If you are lazy to get up early in the morning every day, 9 to 5 job is not a perfect choice for you. Research showed that people who can be active until 4 am in the morning is a sign of intelligence. If you are such a person who doesn’t want to sleep early and get up early, then don’t think about taking a 9 to 5 job. You cannot fit into a job with core hours. It is better to start a business of your own than working 8 hours a day.
2. You hate to work in an authoritative environment:
The reason for your hatred towards a 9 to 5 job could be the problem to work in an authoritative environment. Every company will have a manager to control your work. You may have to be obedient and co-operative to work well in that company. It may also affect your work progress if you can’t stand authority.
If you are a person who likes to do whatever you want, then try looking for a self-starting business where you don’t have to follow any orders. You can decide whatever you want with your business and nobody will be there to blame you.
3. You don’t like to work in a team:
Teamwork is very important for a company’s growth. When you work in a business you need to work with a team to progress in your work. Don’t bother to find a 9 to 5 job. There are many other options you can try to work better as per your schedule. No need to follow any other’s order. Be practical and think about finding your own business to get complete satisfaction.
4. If you cannot sit 8 hours continuously:
If you are a person who is restless and cannot sit continuously at a place for 8 hours, then 9 to 5 job is not for you. Such people want to change and don’t like to do the same task again and again. They think it as very boring.
Some people like a more creative type of job which demands new ideas and concepts. If you are a person who likes to do something creative, then 9 to 5 job is a bad choice for you.
5. You are a late person:
Some people don’t even like to be on time. Punctuality is very important for a 9 to 5 job and if you are not born to be on time always, don’t think about this type of job. Time is valuable for a business and they can miss deals if they haven’t done their work properly on time.
If you don’t want to be on time everywhere and the habit of being late to every meeting you cannot be successful in such type of jobs. If you are a late person then no need to think about joining to a 9 to 5 job. Find something which does not demand punctuality.
